Just because the refectory or the burger bar is there, that doesn't mean you have to eat in it. In fact, home-made is cheaper than the overcooked slop that's been sitting under a heat lamp all morning.

Avoid pre-prepared foods - such as microwave meals and frozen dinners - as they are more expensive and you have no control over the unsavoury ingredients that go into them such as salt, saturated fats and sugar.

Food On The Go
Sandwiches: home-made gives you greater choice and they're a hell of a lot cheaper.

Fruits: take some with you. Fruits like bananas are proven energy providers. Five pieces of fruit per day is generally recommended for good health. This reduces the temptation to grab a bar of chocolate or that sticky bun.

AVOID: fizzy drinks and sweets. They may be convenient and appear to hit the spot but are some of the worst offenders when it comes to empty calories.
